Speaking from experience, Ben, - never follow "hot" stocks (whatever this means) and stock recommendations. You're the last one to learn of the hotness.

Never thought about how an opportunity can change your goals. Probably fine in most cases but not with investment. You’d want to keep some flexibility to take on opportunities but, yeah, with investment that sounds foolish.
